About Our Vocational Evaluation Services
The Vocational Evaluation program at Catholic Charities of Central Florida, Inc. assists individuals with barriers to work to identify appropriate vocational goals.
The vocational evaluator works with individual to identify vocational interests, transferable skills, academic achievement levels and aptitudes to determine their overall potential for succeeding in specific occupations, through:
- Psychometric testing
- Academic Achievement Tests: TABE (9 or 10) or WRAT
- Aptitude Test: Career Ability Placement Survey (CAPS), English Proficiency, etc.
- Inventories: Interest, Learning Styles, Worker Traits, etc.
- Simulated work tasks (work samples)
- Individualized intake interview
- Analysis of referral information
- Transferable Skills Analysis
- Behavioral Observation
What to expect
Catholic Charities of Central Florida’s vocational evaluator is a qualified individual who has over 20 years experience in the rehabilitation field and is a nationally Certified Vocational Evaluator.
The vocational evaluation process is a combination of:
- paper and pencil testing
- face to face interview between the individual and the evaluator
- hands on activities (Work samples)
All vocational evaluations include a written report which is presented to the referring counselor. The counselor may schedule a staffing session with the vocational evaluator to discuss evaluation results and specific recommendations. He may also request that the program participant be present and/or parents when applicable. This staffing session provides an opportunity for discussion, clarification and response to any questions that any of the parties may have.
Individuals are referred to participate in a Vocational Evaluation by: State of Florida, Department of Education Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, or Division of Blind Services
Other sources may wish to make referrals or the participant may refer themselves for services.
