Lake Morton Senior Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Center offers services to seniors who are living independently or with family members. It offers the opportunity for peer interaction, companionship, physical and mental stimulation, wellness programs, nutrition counseling and provides a respite for caregivers. Lake Morton Senior Center focuses on quality, cost effective and relevant services for senior citizens residing in the greater Lakeland area.

During the morning hours seniors can participate in various card and board games. There are seminars on life-skill topics, live entertainment, seasonal parties and events, and health screenings. Seniors may purchase clothing and household items from the low cost thrift shop. There is a lending library in a living room setting where they can sit quietly or in small groups and read. Twice a week arm chair exercise and a meditation class to improve physical and mental activity are available. All services are provided at no charge. A hot lunch is served daily in conjunction with the Polk County’s Fellowship Dining program for a fee of $1.00 per meal.

Following lunch, Bingo (twice a week), yoga class, art class, craft class and line dancing are offered (weekly).

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren support group meets monthly. Lake Morton Senior Center opened in 1988 when Catholic Charities became aware of a need for senior services in Lakeland.
