Catholic Charities has assisted over 10,000 refugees resettle and begin a new life in Central Florida during the last 30 years.

Refugees from all over the world seeking a safe haven in the United States are welcomed into the community and assisted with a place to live and a job to live by. Services are provided in a manner to transition the families into a new culture with an emphasis on early self-sufficiency.

Among the services offered are:

  • Arranging for housing
  • Meeting new arrivals at the airport
  • Basic necessities upon arrival
  • Cultural orientation
  • Orientation to the community
  • Referral to area English classes
  • Transportation and interpretation to health care providers
  • Employment counseling and job placement
  • Youth Services Program

Our experienced, multilingual Refugee Services team includes:

  • Staff: Program Director, Program Coordinators
  • Case Managers, Career Laddering Specialist, Job Development Specialists, Orientation Specialists and Office Manager

Volunteers:

  • Help familiarize a refugee family with various aspects U.S. culture, orient the family to the Orlando area, and provide friendship to a family in need
  • Mentors for the Youth Services Program help students become familiar with a new culture and assist them with English tutoring and classroom assignments

This program is sponsored by Catholic Charities of Central Florida, Inc. and receives funding from the U.S. Catholic Conference of Bishops, Migration and Refugee Services, and the State of Florida Department of Children and Families. Additionally, we receive generous donations from local Catholic Churches and the faith-based community of household items, school supplies, vehicles, and monetary contributions.
