Kathleen’s Story
"May 6th changed my life forever. I remember sitting in a room at the Crisis Pregnancy Center, waiting for the counselor to come back into the room. When she came back, she told me my test was positive. I was pregnant. I can’t even begin to tell you the thoughts and emotions that were running through my head. The counselor and I talked about my options. At first I really wanted this baby. The more I kept thinking, the more adoption was the right option for me to choose. We would struggle and I wouldn’t want that to affect my baby’s life. My child deserves so much more. It took me a couple of weeks and I made my decision. My decision was adoption.
As October approached it was time to start looking at adoption profiles. My adoption counselor with Catholic Charities was awesome. One of the profiles caught my attention right away. When we met face to face, I knew that this couple was the right couple to parent my child. We had so much in common. It was rewarding knowing that my child was going to have two loving parents that can provide for her every day needs, put clothes on her back and have a beautiful house to live in. Knowing that I was blessing them with a child is the most wonderful and amazing feeling ever.
After I handed my daughter, Isabella, over to them, they said to me “Kathleen, you are our angel. Without you, we wouldn’t have our family.” I will cherish those words for the rest of my life. They are also my angels for loving and caring for my daughter."
Maria's Story
"Catholic Charities Changed my Life! When I was 20 years old I had an unplanned pregnancy. Single, pregnant, with no place to go. But Catholic Charities changed all that! Not only did they take care of me by providing a place to live and food to eat, they also allowed me to choose and meet the family who was going to adopt my son. Because of Catholic Charities compassion and understanding I am still able to visit my son and receive pictures. With every visit, and every picture sent, confirmation that I made the right decision is instilled on my heart. I would be lost without Catholic Charities. They are one organization that is not only changing lives, but saving lives, one baby at a time."
