Emergency Family Services

Catholic Charities of Central Florida's Emergency Family Services program serves clients who are facing financial difficulties due to an unexpected financial emergency.  Financial Emergencies could include:

  • loss of a job
  • unexpected medical expenses
  • car repairs
  • family dissolution
  • natural disasters 
  • death in the family 

The program may provide financial assistance with rent/mortgage and/or utilities and referrals to other services within the community. In addition to Emergency Family Services, the Family Stability Initiative in Orlando and the Family Empowerment Program in Lakeland offers intensive case management and life skills training to return families to self-sufficiency.

Emergency Food Services

Food Assistance is available through Catholic Charities of Central Florida’s Food Pantries located:
  • Brevard County (SNAP, Medicaid and TANF assistance offered in Cocoa)
  • Lake County (Leesburg - in partnership with St. Paul's Catholic Church)
  • Orange County (SNAP assistance offered in Orlando)
  • Polk County (SNAP, Medicaid and TANF assistance offered in Lakeland and Winter Haven)
  • Volusia County (Daytona Beach, and Deltona)

Disaster Preparation and Recovery

Since 1990, Catholic Charities has been involved in disaster response in the wake of hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, and other natural disasters in Central Florida. With an emphasis on long tern recovery, our offices are capable of distributing emergency food, finances, and supplies to people in need in the affected areas as well as organizing volunteers to assist in recovery efforts. Click here to learn more and download our resources to help your parish or family be prepared.
