Emergency Financial Assistance

Catholic Charities of Central Florida's Emergency Family Assistance program serves clients who are facing financial difficulties due to an unexpected financial emergency.  Emergencies could include:

  • loss of a job
  • unexpected medical expenses
  • car repairs
  • family dissolution
  • natural disasters 
  • death in the family 

The program may provide financial assistance with rent/mortgage and/or utilities and referrals to other services within the community. 

In addition to Emergency Financial Assistance, the Family Stability Initiative in Orlando and the Family Empowerment Program in Lakeland offers intensive case management and life skills training to return families to self-sufficiency.

Disaster Preparation and Recovery


Since 1990, Catholic Charities has been involved in disaster response in the wake of hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, and other natural disasters in Central Florida. 

With an emphasis on long tern recovery, our offices are capable of distributing emergency food, finances, and supplies to people in need in the affected areas as well as organizing volunteers to assist in recovery efforts. 

Catholic Charities of Central Florida coordinates with state and local government agencies as well as Catholic Charities USA to provide essential support services.
