Family Empowerment Program

Western Region (Polk County)

Breaking the chains of poverty is the goal of the Family Empowerment Program (formerly Emergency Family Services). The Family Empowerment Program provides case management, coaching, mentoring and financial assistance, designed to move the individual or family from dependence to independence. Case management includes an assessment of the individual or family’s needs and provides a framework to develop and meet independence/empowerment goals.

Many of the clients who come to Catholic Charities are able to move towards self-sufficiency. Once the immediate need of food or financial assistance is met, clients are provided the opportunity to work with staff to develop a financial, education, or job plan. All staff in the Family Empowerment Program are trained financial coaches and are able to work with clients of varying needs. Large group financial education classes are also provided.
