Catholic Charities of Central Florida

To the Faithful of the Diocese of Orlando

I encourage you to support the second collection for Catholic Charities of Central Florida that is scheduled for next weekend, November 1-2.

This year, more than 30,000 families will look to Catholic Charities’ emergency assistance for a helping hand to nourish and support them in numerous ways.  Many are the working poor who have never before sought help from us. Since we do not help people because they’re Catholic but because we are Catholic, 70% of those seeking help at Catholic Charities are non-Catholics.  For most, Catholic Charities is their only alternative. 

The first encounter of the needy within our 90 parishes and missions in nine counties of Central Florida is often through Catholic Charities. 

This collection will not fund general overhead or operational costs. Rather the monies collected allow Catholic Charities to directly respond to those in desperate need of immediate assistance with food, rent, and more.

The work of Catholic Charities is an extension of your own parish ministries. Catholic Charities, as the social service arm of our Diocese, makes visible the solidarity of our local Church to the world of pain and need here in our community. Your support of this collection will be a direct gift to the poor of our community administered through Catholic Charities of Central Florida.

As we look forward to sharing our Thanksgiving Holiday with our families next month, we acknowledge God’s goodness to us. Please be generous in your support of next week’s second collection for Catholic Charities. We can all make a big difference today for those among our neighbors who are struggling in these difficult times.
