Adoption Education and Preparation
Catholic Charities provides in-depth training and education to all families interested in adopting through our program. This class is a 13 hour program that is usually held over the course of 3 Saturdays.
Home Studies
The home study is a comprehensive study of you as a family. It is a mandatory state requirement in order to adopt a child in Florida. The home study process typically takes 3 months to complete. If you choose to adopt through Catholic Charities, the cost of the home study fee will be included in the adoption program fee. Catholic Charities also provides independent home studies for domestic adoptions at a cost of $1,500 and international adoptions at a cost of $2,000.
Post Placement Supervision
Florida law requires that the placement of a child in an adoptive home be supervised every 30 days until the adoption is finalized. Catholic Charities of Central Florida also provides independent post placement supervision reports at a cost of $200 per visit plus mileage.
Annual Celebrations for Adoptive Families
We believe that adoption is wonderful and life-changing and that it is important to build a community for your child and your family. We offer opportunities for those families who have adopted through Catholic Charities to gather at least once per year in order to develop a sense of support and camaraderie.
Cradle/Foster Care
Our cradle care (foster care) program is a unique one for those who feel they have a place in their hearts and homes for infants. Infants stay with the cradle care parents from the time they are discharged from the hospital until they are placed with their adoptive parents. This can range from one night to approximately two months. The cradle care family is an integral part of the success of our adoption program.
Search and Reunion Services
These services are offered to any member of the adoption triad when Catholic Charities of Central Florida was the agency that facilitated the adoption and has the adoption records.
